The wooden pavement,
known since antiquity, is experiencing a real renaissance. This unique surface, more and more
often guests in our gardens. From
wooden pavement, not only home paths are made - it is also arranged in
representative places and rest areas.
A wooden pavement is a
surface that particularly fits in a garden that is rural and natural. It presents itself very noble and
harmonizes with various garden arrangements.
Material for wooden
surface
Wooden pavement is
usually made of solid oak or pine wood. It
is most often pressure-impregnated wood, thanks to which preservatives
penetrate deeply into its structure, protecting the material against moisture,
unfavorable weather conditions and biological factors (fungi, insects). Wooden pavement can have a rectangular
or round cross-section. Circular
cross-sections will work well when making irregularly shaped garden surfaces.
Impregnation of wooden
pavement
Prior to proceeding with
the installation, impregnated wooden pavement should be properly secured. For this purpose, an oil or solvent
impregnant may be used. The
impregnated elements should be carefully cleaned and dry.
Laying the wooden
surface
Laying wooden pavement
is not a complicated task. It is
best to make it on the foundation, which will drain water. It can be, for example, a layer of
gravel or sandbars with a thickness of 20
cm . The spaces between the individual
elements of the wooden surface are filled with fine gravel or sand. To protect the pavement from wood
before a greenish coating, it can be covered with a special anti-moss
preparation.
