The entrance gate - swiveling or sliding?

Choosing the right entrance gate is not obvious. To enter and leave the property was comfortable, before buying the appropriate gate model, you must include the shape of the plot and the length of the driveway.

The most common types of entry gates are both hinged and sliding gates. However, you must know that not every entry gate will work on any property.

Hinged doors

They are also called hinged gates. They are usually built with two wings, although there are also single-leaf gates on the market. However, this solution is rarely used due to the heavy weight of the door leaf and the amount of space it occupies in the driveway during opening. The regulations clearly state that the swing gate's wings must open to the premises so that they do not threaten passers-by or vehicles moving along the fence. For this reason, when deciding to choose a two-wing entry gate, you need to make sure that the driveway is long enough that the car parked on it does not hinder its opening and closing. These gates will work well for narrow but long plots.

Sliding gates

This is a good alternative for hinged doors, because their sash does not occupy space in the driveway during opening and closing. So let's decide on them when the driveway is short. Before you decide to buy a sliding gate, however, you need to make sure that the amount of space along the fence, that is, where the wing is hidden is sufficient. You should reserve at least as much space as its length, and in the case of self-supporting sliding gates, whose wing has an additional counterweight, its size should also be taken into account. Sliding gates are therefore better for wide plots.
