Why is it worth changing the boiler after insulating the house?

Thermomodernization of the house often involves the replacement of a heating device, which is most often a boiler. Is it necessary? To choose a device with optimal heating power, it is necessary to calculate the heat demand of the house after thermal modernization. As a result of insulation of the house, it usually decreases by several dozen percent, so that the power of the boiler used so far becomes much too big and it can start to cause problems.

Why is it worth replacing the boiler?

Boiler with a power far greater than needed, does not work with maximum efficiency, i.e. consumes more fuel. Its power must be constantly reduced - in the case of solid fuel equipment, this involves reducing the amount of air entering the combustion chamber. It causes that the fuel does not burn in its entirety - the visible effect is a large amount of soot, which must be frequently removed, and this is an embarrassing task. If this is not done, the efficiency of the boiler decreases even more, the exhaust flow becomes more difficult and the risk of fire increases.

If the heat source is a boiler for one of the liquid fuels (gas or fuel oil), then excessive power shortens the burner's operating cycles and increases the frequency of its switching on and off. This also means higher fuel consumption and shorter service life. The same applies to the heat pump - frequent starting and stopping the compressor increases the power consumption.

Only condensation boilers perform well when they work with incomplete power (they are appropriately constructed for this) - thanks to this, for a long time, condensation of water vapor from the exhaust gases occurs, which causes the release of so-called latent heat. As a result, their efficiency is higher, i.e. they work more economically.
