What affects the cost of construction chemistry in the context of thermal insulation systems

An insulation system is a complex system of interrelated products. This is also defined by construction law. Approvals and certificates are not granted for individual products, only for the whole system. Therefore, the insulation system tested and evaluated should be as a product system, which is later the result of its durability, strength and price.

An insulation system is a product composed of an interrelated product system. This is also defined by construction law.Approvals and certificates are not granted for individual products only for the entire system. Therefore, the insulation system tested and assessed should be as a product arrangement which is later the result of its durability, strength and price.

It should be clearly stated that systemic products that are tested in systems will be more expensive than products introduced separately, which are applied to foreign products without prior testing.

The cost of construction chemicals is also influenced by the fact that the product has the necessary admission documents in the case of thermal insulation systems it is a Technical Approval or European Technical Approval, the possession of such a document by the product "thermal insulation system" certifies that the product passes through a series of tests imposed by the legislator to allow it marketing, it is already a guarantee of a certain minimum level of quality.

Then the main, the most important factor shaping the price of construction chemicals in the system of facade insulation is the chemical composition of the products themselves.

Visually, the construction chemical product is no different between that with a high content of chemicals and those with a small amount. This is reflected in the application and operation of the product, but then a significant proportion of users, investors leave this fact as already existing and not invertible. Therefore, it is very important to make the market aware of the maximum amount of information about the chemical composition of building materials and the benefits of their presence in the product.

In the field of thermal insulation systems, an important component is the adhesive and putty mortars used to fasten thermal insulation boards and to build a reinforced layer on their surfaces, which ensures the mechanical strength of the thermal insulation system.

Baumit is Baumit Baumit StarContact. An important factor in the chemical composition of a product such as adhesive mortar is the parameter of roasting loss expressed in percentage units.

The higher the percentage of roasting losses, the higher the content of chemical additives in the adhesive. At the stage of granting the Technical Approval, the authority issuing such a document on the basis of product tests determines the declared rate of roasting loss (it may not be lower than required by the standard), but may be extremely low, which places the product as poor quality and at a low price. For example, Baumit StarContact adhesive mortar from the Baumit Star insulation system is characterized by roasting losses in the range of 2.6 to 3%. Unfortunately, you can find products on the construction market in which this parameter is only 0.65%. It should be remembered that the chemistry contained in the product has the greatest impact on its price.

What is the concept of loss of roasting? The content of compounds such as polymer resin, which increases the adhesion of the mortar, its mechanical resistance, flexibility and, what is most important, allows to eliminate mechanical fasteners during adhesive assembly of thermal insulation boards. The loss of roasting also includes the content of methylcellulose, which extends the open time of material processing, increases flexibility and eliminates shrinkage cracks as well as many other chemical additives. The above example illustrates how the chemical composition affects the quality and price of the product.

The same applies to surface expeditions, that is, structural plasters. Structured plaster is not just a binder and filler, i.e. aggregate and pigment. Structural pasty plaster (silicone, acrylic, silicate) consists of aggregate, binder (dispersions, water glass, resins), a defoamer, thickener, preservative (anti-fungal), cross-linking agent, hydrophobizing agent, white pigments, colored pigments, microfibers. Each of these components plays an important role in the application and operation process and, above all, affects the price of the product. Cheap products to reduce the price are necessarily deprived of individual ingredients or their composition is restricted.

The use of new solutions such as nanotechnology (eg Baumit NanoporTop and Baumit NanoporColor) makes these products acquire the characteristics of self-cleaning. This technology affects the cost of producing a product, but at the same time translates into savings in its use.

To sum up, the cost of a product is primarily influenced by its chemical composition, constant quality, supported by periodic research and the use of new solutions and technologies. However, it should be remembered that this cost is always compensated by the utility values and durability of the product.
