Clean clinker - how to clean tiles and clinker bricks?

Elegant and durable clinker tiles and bricks require cleaning as well as protection against time. Both washing and clinker impregnation should be carried out using appropriate means.

Clinker is a material that we gladly make elevation, finishing foundations, fences and tracks. All these elements are subject to time and dirt. Klinker has always been and successfully is still considered a showcase of the property, a determinant of style and timeless aesthetics, which significantly increases the prestige of the building. For this reason, it is so important that its appearance does not raise any objections. In order for elements with clinker tiles and bricks to be elegant and representative, they should be looked after properly. So how do you clean clinker tiles and bricks?

Cleaning tiles and clinker bricks

Clinker surfaces are worth regular wet cleaning. A brush and a preparation designed to clean this material will be useful. You can also use a normal detergent. The pressure washer will be very easy, especially if it is equipped with a brush pad. Some models also have nozzles ended with a cleaning tip. This type of brush is placed on a movable head, together with the pressure of water allows for quick cleaning of large surfaces. This is a great job facilitation and a safe way to clean places where there is clinker. It should not be left too long to leave its surface in a state of strong soaking.

Clinker impregnated

In order for the water to not adversely affect the clinker, i.e. it did not penetrate into its micropores and cause accelerated biological corrosion, it is necessary to protect the material. Appropriate preparations for protection of clinker surfaces are intended for the protection of products with an absorption of less than 6%. Clinker impregnants not only protect it against moisture, but also protect against discoloration. The protective layer also prevents the dirt from sticking quickly. A good quality preparation allows the material to breathe. Thanks to this, it gives moisture, for example, after a period of rainfall. Some preparations will protect the surface of bricks and tiles for a period of 3 years, but we will also find agents acting, for example, by. Years 7.

In addition to preparations to protect clinker surfaces, we can also apply impregnations. In contrast to the first they penetrate into the material and change its appearance. They bring out color and texture. Let's also remember that each time after applying the impregnation, the clinker surface will be darker and the color more intense. We should especially impregnate places most exposed to rainwater, i.e. stairs, balustrades and window sills.

If bricks or clinker tiles have been subject to biological corrosion, it is necessary to spray them with the agent intended for its liquidation. It should be diluted with water. It is best to follow the manufacturer's instructions that bear the packaging of the preparation. In some cases, a single use of a biocorrosion agent will not be sufficient. Then it will be necessary to spray the clinker surface again or even three times.

The clinker can also have salt efflorescence. They can be removed with an acid-based preparation. It also requires dilution with water. The solution should be used only on dry clinker surfaces, and then it is necessary to wash the whole with water.

Clinker tiles and bricks with clean joints

The smallest dirt is assumed by the joint, which is flush with the wall, that is, it is made equal to the surface of tiles and clinker bricks. Then the impurities have difficult adhesion and water leading to the biological corrosion of the wall does not penetrate in the gaps. Defects in the joints should be completed to protect the wall or other surface finished with clinker. We can also impregnate them. If a mortar containing lime was used to form the cladding, it may cause eruptions. Therefore, it is best to use preparations intended for clinker. Remove the efflorescence with water under pressure or a preparation intended for clinker cleaning.
