In order to give the
house a style and character, it is worth enriching the façade with
architectural details such as veneer, cornices and window bands. Thanks to the expanded polystyrene
boards and façade profiles, their execution will not be difficult.
Bona, cornices and
window bands on the facade of the building
The centuries-old
tradition of using cornices, bands and boni to gain the finishing touch of the
façade has gained a new dimension. In
contrast to the past times, when they were structural elements of the wall,
today their execution is much simpler. It
is enough to use styrofoam light materials that will be properly installed over
the years to add charm to the walls of the house.
Modern materials for
window bands and cornices
For the production of
modern elements from which architectural details are made , hard, self-extinguishing Styrofoam isprimarily used . In order to be installed outside the
building, they must be reinforced with fiberglass reinforcing mesh and finished
with mineral putty. Elements
designed for bonnets, bands or cornices are also made of polyurethane foam
covered with PVC foil and a layer of appropriate paint. Their production also uses plastic,
the basic component of which is silicate granulate.Profiles are pre-primed.
Light bonies
The boule was
traditionally made in thick cement-lime plaster, today you can choose elements
with pre-cut grooves in extruded polystyrene boards with a minimum thickness of 2 cm . They can also be made on site by
themselves. Then, in smooth
boards after they have been glued onto the wall, a bonnie should be cut with a
filament cutting machine. In a
similar way, they can be made in foamed polystyrene boards used for wall
insulation. However, you must
take into account that the grooves reduce the thickness of thermal insulation
and worsen its effectiveness slightly. The
bonnet should be accordingly thicker. It
is also possible to rustify the mineral wool boards used for wall insulation. An oscillating cutter with an
appropriately selected blade is used for this.
On what wall the bonn, cornices and bands
Profiled bands, cornices
or veneers are glued to the supporting layer of the wall or layer of
insulation, and then covered with thin-layer plaster. Because they weigh only a little, they
are also suitable for sticking on walls insulated with the method of light wet. They are not a heavy load for such a
delicate façade.
Assembly of light
details
Before proceeding to the
assembly of bands and cornices, the profiles chosen by us should be cut
precisely to size. In the case of
window bands, particular attention should be paid to maintaining the right
angle so that the elements of the frame fit perfectly together. You must also select the lines on
which profiles should be glued. The
adhesive must be applied to the bottom of each trimmed element. Light armbands, bonnets and cornices
are fastened to the wall with mineral glue to styrofoam, which sticks
polystyrene boards to the wall. When
the wall is perfectly smooth, it can be spread with a notched trowel over the
entire surface. The profile
prepared in this way can be glued - remember that after applying, press it
firmly against the wall. The
cornices must be secured by means of a distance bar fixed directly to the
supporting wall. For the effect
to be good, remember to remove the adhesive coming out of the joints, and then
you have to wipe them with sandpaper. The
contact points of the profiles with the wall and the external window sill must
be sealed with silicone. After
installation to the finished wall, it is enough to paint them or cover with
thin-layer plaster. The assembly
should take place at temperatures from +5 to +30 degrees.
