A
large living room creates great arranging possibilities. However, the
arrangement of a large living room is not always easy. So let's learn the basic
rules of composing large spaces and know which furniture to choose first.
Arrangement
of the living room
For
a large living room to be orderly and functional it is good to make a furniture
layout - most of us consider this simple step as unnecessary. However, it is
very helpful in visualizing a large interior.
A
large living room - a place of rest
The relax zone is the
most important zone in the living room. This is where we will spend most of our
free time. A place to rest in a large living room can be created by placing
furniture around a chosen central point - it can be eg a large coffee table or
a fireplace.
A cozy corner in a
rectangular interior will allow us to create a large corner or sofa set in the
shape of the letter L. The rest zone will be a rectangular coffee table or
bench fitting into the sofa arrangement, as well as armchairs, seats or chaise
lounges surrounding the table from the other sides. It is worth having at least
two additional seats, which we will be able to rearrange again when needed. When
arranging a large living room, it is worth remembering that the times of
matching holiday sets have long since passed. The sofa and armchairs do not
have to be kept in the same style and colors. In a large space we can afford
diversity without any major fears of excessive chaos. When choosing a piece of
furniture, let us direct our own needs, financial possibilities and taste.
Instead of one table in
the recreation area, we can put, for example, two smaller ones, which can be
moved and put together depending on the needs. In addition to the main coffee
table or bench in a large space, we can afford additional small side tables, on
which we can set a table lamp, books or a vase with flowers. An interesting
solution is also to place a long narrow shelf at the big sofa, adjusted to the
height of the rest. Its top top will provide us with an additional storage
space. Placed in such a bookcase will also make the not very effective back of
the sofa will not be visible.
Large living room - division
into zones
The large living room
space allows for the separation of various zones - for example, a lounge, a
dining room or a reading or work corner. The corners next to each other will
support family integration.
In order to extract
various functions in a large living room and provide greater intimacy to the
residents staying in individual zones, we can use various types of partitioning
- for example, low partition walls, decorative screens or openwork freestanding
shelves or set up furniture accordingly. To emphasize a specific zone, we can
also use a color and paint selected walls for a different, more intense shade
than the others. We will divide the large living room into zones also with
lighting. Other lamps will illuminate the dining room (hanging lamps), and the
other seating corner (floor and table lamps). To designate zones in a large
living room, it is worth using also carpets - another in the seating corner,
another in the dining room, and a smaller carpet or sidewalk by the reading
corner. Carpets not only insulate the interior and define the zone, but also
delineate its surface.
