Composite boards for the terrace and balcony - an alternative to wood

Wood-based composites are increasingly used on all types of terraces and balconies. Investors decide on them because they combine the aesthetic advantages of wood with high durability and resistance to atmospheric factors.

Which composite boards should I choose for a terrace or balcony?

Compos made of a mixture of wood flour and PVC, as well as polypropylene PP or polyethylene PE are available on the market. The best ones are with the addition of PVC. They contain 30-50% of wood, thanks to which their appearance, color and texture resembles elements of exotic knotless wood. Also walking around them, we feel like we tread on wood. The content of PVC in composite boards makes them durable, resistant to moisture and do not discolour under the influence of UV radiation, which is very important when used in places such as a balcony or terrace. They are also perfectly straight and longer than wooden boards, which facilitates and speeds up assembly work. If we choose boards with PVC additions on the balcony or terrace, we also guarantee that their surface will not be slippery (it is brushed).

In contrast to wood, composite boards do not need to be renewed, it's enough to wash them with water from time to time.

Easy assembly of composite boards

The advantage of composite boards is that manufacturers often offer them in a set with joists, masks and steel connectors. Thanks to the system solutions, composite boards are easy to arrange - the joists are laid directly on the concrete, without the need for insulation on the balcony or terrace.
