Arrangement of the hall - how to decorate a small hall?

A hallway is a neglected part of a house or flat. This is a mistake, because it is the first place visitors see entering our interiors. The hall should become a kind of showcase of our home space. How to arrange a small hall?

A small hall needs a proper approach. Arrangement of this room should be thought out and functional. In a small hall, it is worth taking care of bright finishing materials and practical storage

Finishing materials in a small hallway

When planning to finish the small hall, it is worth using bright colors that visually enlarge and light up the interior. This applies not only to the walls, but also to the floor - finished with bright, shimmering in the light plates, it will become a reflective surface. An interesting operation that optically enlarges the small hall is the use of the same flooring material as the adjacent living room. Then, the hall opening to the living room will seem bigger and longer. The proven way to optically enlarge the space of a small hall is to use a mirror - ideally if it will be a large sheet without a decorative frame. A good solution is to integrate such a mirror, eg in the wardrobe door.

Equipment and accessories

The effect of optical space enlargement in a small hallway can be obtained through its proper lighting. In addition to the main lighting, whose function is usually a ceiling lamp or a chandelier suspended from the ceiling, side lighting will also be useful - eg in the form of sconces, located on both sides of a hanging mirror or picture. An interesting effect can be obtained by using spotlights mounted to the cabinet from above - they will act as additional lighting, brightening the interior of a small hallway.

The practical arrangement of the hall is also functional furniture and equipment. In a small hall, give up clothes hangers - standing or hanging on the wall. If we have such a possibility, it is worth trying to make a built-in wardrobe, which will make storing the outer covers and shoes will not take place at the expense of the hall space. A good solution is also narrow cabinets with sliding doors - sliding sideways, does not take up space in the hallway.

For the storage of shoes, in a small hall, a narrow but tall cabinet with fold-out drawers will also be useful. If you plan to put a seat close to the door for comfortable putting on and taking off your shoes, choose a model with a practical storage. Do not waste space on the walls. If you want to mount shelves on them, shelves with an integrated drawer are a good solution - ideal for storing small items, such as keys, gloves or accessories for footwear care.
